Being diagnosed with cancer is a very stressful time for both the patient and their families. Cancer treatment is complex, and this complexity is compounded by a person's life circumstances, experiences and the emotional roller coaster that comes with diagnosis. The availability of home chemotherapy provides patients with another choice that may alleviate some of their anxiety as they can undergo their treatment in familiar surroundings.
Patients report advantages such as:
- Ease of travel – particularly not having to travel while experiencing nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy or cancer
- Reduction in treatment associated anxiety
- Not burdening their carers and family
- Being able to continue other duties such as caring for children and other dependants.

Services We Provide
HSS has developed this program with the support of Private Health Funds and a dedicated oncology team who will oversee every aspect of delivering chemotherapy in the home safely and professionally.
Although not every patient can receive home chemotherapy for clinical and logistical reasons, this community based approach, aims to provide an alternative choice to cancer sufferers. |
